ZAPPY3 Electric Scooter at MIS – FUN!
The Automotive X PRIZE was pretty intense leading up to the on-track stage at Michigan International, but once we were at the track and the car was working fine, there were long periods of where there was nothing to do. Luckily we had several ZAPPY3 electric scooters on hand. The ZAPPY3 is a perfect form of transportation for any race track. The Alias had to charge at the charging tent and it took a good 5-10 minutes to walk all the way out to the charging tent. On a ZAPPY3, it would take about 30 seconds to get there. We would use them to run parts to tech inspection, pick up the lunches, not to mention trips to the bathroom. During the Knockout Stage in June we were neighbors in the garage with the EVXTeam from West Philly Hybrid. These teenagers went crazy for the ZAPPY3 (not only the teens) and we filmed this short video. The ZAPPY3s became the unofficial transportation at the track. Between the ZAPPY3, the XL Truck and the Alias, everyone at the Automotive X PRIZE got a good taste of what ZAP has to offer. Thanks to the West Philly students for inspiring ZAP and thanks to Prash and Sam for helping make this video.

1973 Auranthetic Electric Motorcycle Part 2
The first video showed the bike. This one shows it on the road and going up a steep hill. It is quite a capable little bike. It’s too bad they are no longer produced. There are no fancy electronic speed controllers on this bike, just 2 speeds using relays. It didn’t need anything more. I had another one like this years ago that I modified for 3 batteries & a golf cart motor. I disassembled it. It was too dangerously fast for such a small frame. Leaving this one stock is just right. I also have a stock Auranthetic 3-wheel “Charger” stored away. It just needs batteries. Not everyone knows that an Auranthetic 3-wheeler existed. It is likely the last one anywhere. If anyone else has one of these old bikes or 3-wheelers, please put up a video of yours. It’s hard to know how many are still around if there are any.
